Meet the Doctors

Dr. C. Gus Tsiapalis has been a lifelong health & fitness enthusiast and athlete. He was born in Ottawa and moved numerous times as a child before his family settled in London, Ontario. He was involved in many team sports while growing up, including basketball, tennis, football and soccer, before setting his sights on volleyball. He initially pursued indoor volleyball, then found a passion for beach volleyball. At the height of his career as a professional beach volleyball player, Gus was diagnosed with a unique form of metabolic muscular dystrophy.

After leaving competitive sport on the advice of the medical team at the Neurological Institute in Montreal, Gus decided to take his health into his own hands. An assistant coach and friend recommended he visit a chiropractor. With his chiropractor’s help, Gus was able to continue in competition, and the next summer he finished among the top five in the Canadian Beach Volleyball circuit and went on to be the youngest player on record to defend the Canadian Championship.  Gus considered pursuing his professional sport career, but his experience turned his sights towards Chiropractic. He moved to Toronto in 1991 and by 1995 had completed his 4 year training and Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Gus continued his studies in the East and spent approximately 12 months combined in Sri Lanka, India and Nepal, training in the holistic healing disciplines of homeopathy, acupuncture and the application of eastern mysticism to healing. He was also introduced to yoga and meditation.

Gus returned home and began his career in Chiropractic as a full time locum, covering over 30 different centres throughout Ontario including Kenora, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, New Liskeard, Ottawa and Toronto. He opened his own health & wellness centre in 1999 with his wife Jacqueline, who is also a chiropractor. Their combined unique approach encourages families to live a well adjusted, naturally healthy and balanced lifestyle. They have gained a lot of family experience on their own in raising their 3 children (all natural homebirths).

Gus has a love for speaking and sharing and holds weekly health & wellness workshops at his centre, as well as bimonthly speaking engagements throughout the community.

Gus’ most recent passion is running. He has completed a number of 10K runs, has participated in the Niagara Falls International Half Marathon, and is training for his first marathon, the Forest City Marathon in London in May. He maintains his love for volleyball by coaching intermediate youth athletes – boys & girls who are aiming to play in the tournament circuit during the summer.  He is also very involved with his children’s sports and coaches his daughter’s soccer team.

As a coach, his natural enthusiasm for self improvement is contagious. His weekly routine always includes body work exercise (yoga, pilates), running, adjustments, meditation, journaling, prayer, and family time. He finds that by fulfilling his own daily routine, he is able to best serve his patients to help optimize their own health and wellness.

He divides his life into quadrants; family, professional, financial, spiritual, mental/emotional, physical and social.  Since his children have come into his life (daughter Zoe and sons Max and Caleo), his focus has turned towards family and finances. His goals to balance and continue to help others balance the spokes of their wheels and complete their 21 interval week remain steadfast, from the moment he wakes to the moment he puts his head down on his pillow, to live each day as fully as possible, serving as many people as possible, with as much love as possible.  His professional vision is to see subluxation become a household word and to see Vaughan become the most wellness oriented community in the GTA, across Canada and around the world.

Dr. Jacqueline Tsiapalis was born in the GTA and raised in Thornhill. After graduating from Metropolitan Preparatory Academy in 1989, she attended McGill University in Quebec and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology (cross cultural health care) in 1993. In 1997 she received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Upon her return to the Vaughan region in 1999, Jacqui began her chiropractic practice with her husband and partner Gus. Since then her practice has continued to grow, serving families from Milton to Pickering, Barrie to the GTA. Jacqui has most of her attention focused on the care of multigenerational families; her specialty is in the care of pregnant women and pediatrics. She received her post-graduate fellowship designation FICPA (Fellowship of the International Chiropractic and Pediatric Association) in 2003. Jacqui is also skilled and certified in the Webster In-Utero Contraint Technique, also known as the 'Breech Turning Technique' in which she has successfully helped many women turn their unborn children to avoid caesarian births.

Through her own experience of the effects of a traumatic birth as well as her experiences of anovulation (preventing conception), she has made it her mission to help as many children and women as possible reach their ultimate potential by checking, educating and adjusting as many families as possible.
